The Child That Got Everyone Sick...

.... Just went to the doctor and was diagnosed with 'allergies'. They also didn't put the child on any medication to help with said 'allergies'. My policy is to exclude for symptoms NOT diagnosis. But does any one have experience with the child who has symptoms of allergies and NOT been put on meds to help? If it is allergies and he continues to have this insanely runny nose (THICK green mucous that pours down to his lips) then I need to exclude him forever? :: Seriously though, any recommendations? Its been going on for 2 weeks now. He was sick, got better, everyone else got sick, got him sick again, everyone got better, and now everyone else is sick again (including me!). What do you guys recommend? My thoughts is that it isn't allergies. But who knows

In the doctor's note, I'd require the allergies to be diagnosed AND have an attached treatment plan. NOT so you can give medications but so that you KNOW it IS allergies.

Specifically ask what symptoms can be chalked up to this child's allergies and what aren't part of having allergies.

Any time a child here has a green thick mucus-y discharge, I exclude them until they have seen a doctor (who then gives a detailed diagnosis).

If the green discharge is still present after another 5 days, I repeat the exclusion.
