I just wanted to thank everyone here! I had a situation with a family and knew exactly what I should do and was confident doing it 
. Before I would have wondered if I was making the right choices- it is awesome to have colleagues !!!
Here is what happened:
I exclude for croup. (I know some don't but I do
). I have so many colds going around. One of my little guys had a very barky cough- so I informed parents that if it continued he wouldn't be able to attend the next day. Dad was short but acceptable and said he would text in the am with how he did that night. Dcb was also going to dr that evening for a flu shot and dad said he would see if dr would look at him quick. I said that sounded good and to let me know. Later I get a text that says: the dr thinks its just a cold and he was starting an ear infection so she put him on antibiotics. So he will be coming tomorrow. I replied: if he still has a barky cough he can not attend. Later I get a text that says: well the dr says it is not croup but since you know better he will just stay home! 
I tried to call dcd and no answer. I texted both mom and dad and said I would need to speak to one before dcb returned to care. Dcm called me today. I explained why I was still excluding, and how I have to keep the interests of the entire group on mind. She was unaware of how dcd responded to me via the text. I told her it wasn't acceptable and that in the future he may communicate with me respectfully or there would be an issue. She agreed to all points.
I am really happy with how I handled it and feel like I was professional and stood up for myself and my business! happyface.
