Additional Charges

I am update my policy and giving everyone an "amendment" of sorts, most importantly as a reminder about our sick policy and some changes that had to be made for my enrollment with Maryland EXCELS program. Does any one else have any additional charges? Some problems that I run into are people not bringing what they need. All parents supply wipes, diapers and meals and I always remind them the day or two before if they are running out of something. Still, they forget. So I decided to start charging for the inconvenience. This is what I have so far (oh, and I've been having a problem with late pick ups so I switched it from $5.00/15 min)::

• Late Fees. If your Child arrives before or is picked up after the times agreed upon in Section 1 above without prior arrangements, I may charge an overtime fee of $1.00 per minute per child, for the unscheduled overtime hours of care, so please try to make arrangements with me in advance. Payment of late fees will be added to the following week’s tuition.

• Additional Charges. If it has been notified that your child needs wipes or diapers and they are not brought the following morning there will be a $2.00 charge per changing. If a meal is not packed there will be a $10.00 convenience charge in order for me to provide the food.


Can any one else think of something that I may be missing? I don't want to have to do this again any time soon. Also, do you think this is unreasonable?

Personally I would require late fees to be paid in full either at the time of pick up or the next morning BEFORE more care is provided.

I would NOT charge for supplies but would instead, decline care if the child does NOT arrive with the required supplies.

I understand that things happen but I also know all too many families that would rather pay the inconvenience fee instead of simply doing what was required in the first place....kwim?

This is just my 2 cents....do what works for you but that's how I would personally handle these issues.

For the Late Fees part, you put "I may charge an overtime fee". I wouldn't put the word may. To me (unless I'm reading it wrong), it sounds like you might charge, but you might not.
