    New Doggy!

I don't really have pictures yet, but we went to the shelter again this afternoon with three more dogs on our list to meet. They brought in the first one, and it was like a puzzle piece sliding into place! She was absolutely perfect. Surrenedered due to her people moving and they couldn't keep her. Housebroken, crate trained, knows basic obedience commands. Passed their cat test and wasn't phased by the rambunctious LOUD toddler boy. He even drove his toy bulldozer over her face and she was like "Um. okay?"

So we put a hold on her and are bringing her home tomorrow. happyfacehappyfacehappyfacehappyface

Ahem. Of course I hadn't even mentioned the fact that we were looking to any of the daycare parents....heh.

She is going to be gated or crated away from the daycare while we are inside. She really isn't going to have much contact with daycare...but will be visible. I"m a little bit concerned that we could possibly lose families, but she already feels like a part of mine so I'm of the "love her or leave me" sort of mindset.

I'm thinking of texting the families tomorrow and saying, "Hey! We added a new family member this weekend. She's a super sweet lab mix and will be gated away from the daycare during the day. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns!"
Hee hee! Look, I have a signature!

    Aww, congratulations happyface

If your families are ok with your cats I can't imagine that they'd be worried over having a dog, especially since it sounds like they won't see her much. Back in the days when we had dogs I don't think I ever mentioned it to any families until after we got them & nobody ever said a word. Well, except for the mom who was convinced that I let my Irish Setter lick her child's face all day long ::. That relationship didn't last long (the family, not the dog).

Yay!! Pictures Pictures Pictures! (please! )

Congrats!! A new dog is so much fun! Getting to know them and their personality, it's like a new kid!

Hopefully you don't loose any DCPs but if so then you didn't want them anyway! My DCPs have to be "dog people" or I'm not taking them ::! Our dog's not really around the DCKs but if they don't seem to be ok with her even in the house, out they go. Dogs are family in my world, DCPs aren't and unlike my dog they are replaceable

We were going to wait until Spring to find another animal, but not sure dh will last that long. Everyday he sends me a new link to a dog or cat. Christmas will probably be animals under the tree instead of presents::. Dog for dh, cat for ds, and bunny for dd and a pooper scooper for me::.

aaaaawww! You'll have so much fun! Most of my families aren't dog families, so they appreciate that their kids get exposure to dogs here-they hope it will fend off the inevitable "I need a dog conversation"! Hasn't worked so far::
Enjoy getting to know the newest member of your family!

                      Sounds like our house .

Except I think we have almost everything right now... Except a rabbit and a guinea pig... Well and fish.. But fish are against the house rules... Because I kill them somehow....
