Do You Ever Get Hopeful Nobody Shows Up?

It's one of those mornings where the daycare parents seem to be running late... I sit here soooo hopeful that nobody will show up today! I check my text messages HOPING to get some text saying "staying home today" or "have a nice day off" (yeah right! LOL)

    Oh darn... someone just knocked.

oh yeah!! never really happens though - rare that all 4-5 kids would be staying home the same day. But I secretly do a little cheer with each "staying home" message I get. happyface

I do! Especially on the slow days when there's only supposed to be a few kids here and nobody arrives on time or text to say they're not coming. I want to just wait for my 9 am cutoff for drop offs to arrive but with all of these children around the country being left in the car when their parents forgot to drop them at daycare I end up calling/texting until I reach someone. 9 times out of 10 they slept in and I ended up being their wake up call and they arrive at 8:59.

I had a DCG not show up this morn & mom walks in as we were finishing lunch. I told her lunch was over & it will be story time in just a bit, followed by nap time. She immediately started blaming her 2 1/2 old for playing on the trampoline & now she can't eat. DCM seriously almost started to cry. I said we were NOT changing the program from everyone because she overslept. She will have to nap with the rest of them. She then ran out the door saying it was her daughter's fault! WHAT THE WHAT?

I had the same thought this morning. My 730 still wasn't here by 750 and was so hopefull they weren't coming and had slept in so i would get a text later. Mom was sick yesterday so a possibility but they showed up at 755. My other early one calked and was sick so only have 3 this morning

I hear ya! Right now from school drop off in the morning till pick up at 2, its just me and my twins - at least two days a week. Which is plenty right there.

Yes, all the time! I have only one full timer, and when they are running late, I check my email and phone constantly to see if I could possibly have a day off (for once). Never happens! Dcg rolls in with hair all a mess, and dcm says, "she slept in late". You know what that means for me? No nap for dcg that day
