I agree that some type of sex Ed should begin in or before kindy. However, as a parent, I believe it's my right to refuse THEIR ideas of teachi sex education in school. I personally don't like e way they teach it at any age or either program.

I agree, I wasn't saying it should be required or that parents didn't have a choice in it, sorry if it came across that way. I was just agreeing with missmuffet and stating my opinion why I agree. I do think our education program needs an overhaul ::

All is well hon, I wasn't thinking in particular about your post. It was directed more in general that the government is trying to take over every aspect of our lives instead of simply making parents accountable.

Here in Ontario, lock down drills are done monthly, the children are told it is protect them from strangers. Since doors are locked all day for the same reason it doesn't seem to be a problem. There of course may be children that are anxious about it, just not that I've heard. I hope any child who is worried or concerned is reassured properly!

Lockdown drills would freak me out as an adult :: but I on the flip side I can see how it makes teachers and admistration feel they are prepared and providing a safer environment. Unfortunately it seems we live in a world where schools can be targets. They literally just closed 6 schools around us this week becuse of threats of violence I do think parents should get a heads up and be informed of drills so they can decide if their child attends or not.

I hear ya! I'm not particularly fond of the govt thinking they know whats best or people thinking they don't have to be responsible for anything because the govt should. I had a tenant once tell me "I've had a baby, I don't have to do anything now. Gov't pays housing, food, and daycare if I want to work, plus head start and then public school will teach her everything so I'm set. I just have to keep her alive" Years later this comment still sticks with and bothers me.
