Need Advice - Baby with Thrush & Croup

I just got an email from one of my daycare moms that said she took her daughter (10 months old) to the dr today because she was coughing last night. Turns out she has thrush inside her cheeks and beginning stages of croup. They gave her a steroid and some meds for the thrush.

Question: How long should I have her stay home? I was thinking 24-48 hours. But The mom wants to keep her home the whole week - which I TOTALLY don't mind . She'll still come pay me in the morning... But wondering what you guys usually say is the time they should be out for this awful combo.

Now I think I need to sterilize everything she may have touched Friday... Ah man I hope none of the others caught that funk

I don't exclude for croup. All croup is.... Is either a cold(virus) or a bacterial respiratory infection that manifests in SOME children as croup. Croup itself is simply the barking noise they make as a result of the swelling of their airways.

I exclude if they have a fever over my limit and if they can't participate in the activities of daycare.

But neither croup or thrush do I exclude for.

I do exclude for croup- at my ped recommendation. They cannot not return until 24 hr fever free and the "bark" is gone.
I've never had a kid with thrush- if it was a baby who I could contain to themselves I wouldn't but if I couldn't control mouthing 100% I would because I know baby can keep re-catching by not cleaning the items they out in their mouth which to me means contagious .

If mom's willing to keep her home all week then I would def not fight it! ::

I would exclude for thrush until treated...it's a fungus not a bacteria, so i don't know, I'd have to ask how long until no longer contagious. Croup, would depend on daytime severity.
Hee hee! Look, I have a signature!

I exclude for thrush because normally, it is very uncomfortable for babies causing them to have trouble feeding sometimes and also can cause the gag reflex to be sensitive and they may be spitting up or vomiting because of trouble feeding or pain in their mouths. in my experience, kids with thrush are not happy kids. I would exclude for 48 hours at least. If mom wants to keep out for the whole week, thats even better because croup has all those cold symptoms including fever which I would exclude for as well.

Thanks guys... Yeah the mom is super cool and she said she wants to keep her home all week and even the following week if shes still sick - and will still pay. I told her that its not necessary to keep her out that long - but I really appreciate it if shes still not feeling good. She's keeping her home all this week for sure - per the mom's wanting to. If she hadn't done that, I probably would have just made her keep her home for a couple days till the meds kicked in.

Meanwhile I did some research online about thrush and I've been sterilizing everything that she may have put in her mouth, etc. Her mom asked me to throw out all her bottle nipples and she'll replace. I love moms like her. She is very thoughtful.
