    Energetic Boy Ideas Please

I have a very energetic 6 ear old dcb with autism. It is getting cold outside and has been raining alot so outside pkay is out. I need some ideas that will burn off some of his energy so he is calm at bed time. I have noticed that if he goes to bed without expending his energy he doesnt sleep well through the night. I am at a loss and dont know what to do.

I guess I would have to know what "kind" of Autisum. As in- verbal, non verbal, sensitive to sound, etc...
But for my little autistic boy he loved to hammer- so I got him a hammer toy, he loved sensory stimulation so we would do big jumps (with me holding his hands and he would jump high and bang down, we would play pillows where I would squish pillows on his torso and legs while he layed on the couch. Anything that was heavy (for him) he would carry for me to get in some "hard work". We would dance. We also did joint compressions for a while (with encouragement from ot). Also he would go in the middle of a blanket, with me holding both ends and run forward. He couldn't get anywhere but he loved it and it helped with the hard work aspect.
Again some of these would set other kids off- but they worked for my guy. He was my best naper

He is on the higher functioning side very verbal and can get a bit aggressive when doesnt have a good outlet for energy.

Sounds like my guy- hard work for him was key. If we went for a walk he helped push the stroller (as much as he could and I'd pick up the slack). Carry the toy bins etc...
Try the deep jumping and blanket running- he LOVED it and it really worked well for the energy.
Also spinning he loved - so when we danced he could spin
Oh- thought of another one- maybe tug of war with him pulling on one end of a receiving blanket and you holding the other... Just don't let go! ::

a little indoor trampoline? letting him jump into a pile of pillows or a large bean bag or other "crash" area.

Cant do a tramp this is a daycare boy if it was my own I would definitely use one. According to state law we can only use them for our own children or at the gym with instructor.
