Not A Good Start To The New School Year....

This is my first "back to normal" week - all kids came back to their regular schedules, etc. Since Tuesday.....

    1. Mom asked for early drop off for her first 2 days back at work after summer off, I agreed. Showed up 20 min. later than that time first day and 10 min. later than that time the 2nd day.

    2. DCG comes in, dad says woke up super early and didn't go back to sleep (like 5am). Within 10 min. her nose is running like crazy. Within an hour she has a fever (which is ironically about 4 hours after she woke up). Funny how mom doesn't respond for 3 hours - 10 min. after nap time begins.

    3. DCB comes in wearing underwear (he's been not so successfully potty training all summer). Wets pants 20 min. later. Text mom asking WTH?? Her response? I thought you put a diaper on him when he arrives, we don't have any at home.

    4. DCP brings in check today and tells me not to cash it till Saturday (which really means it won't clear till Monday).

Seriously.... I have gone over 12 years in this business and NEVER had as many issues as I've had in the last year. I hate to sound old but what is with parents today????????

All these things are outlined in my contract as not allowed...

I have a backbone, been using it for years, but never minded giving a little extra either, but I swear the world of parents has really changed the last few years and I'm fed up with it!!

I sooo agree! Just in the time I had a daycare 10 years ago to when I started over 4 years ago... The kids AND parents are different.

Pretty Mellow here except a new DCB started and mom dropped him off Tuesday with no paperwork. Was going to leave and I asked where her paperwork folder is. "Oh, I lost it, do you have another one!"
Really? You were just going to leave your child here and I have NONE of your contact info! Then asked if she could give check at pick up as she was running late for work (after filling out paperwork and already coming 10 minutes late) - Ummm No! I told her she needed it before she left! (Prepay here)

Amazing. I tell them several times that their kid will not come in my door without a minimum of registration card and immunizations. Some have a month to prepare, and still wait until the last day to get their kids their shots. I am shocked at the number of kids behind on immunizations-they are free in my state with just a statement saying "I can't pay for them"...there is no excuse for not getting them done, IMO (and these aren't religious exemptions-these are parents who started shots and then blew off boosters).

People are just crazy. Dad picked up the one who came in underwear and I read him the riot act but he was just clueless. I know mom just didn't want to face me.
