    My None Napper

I've had a 2 year old daycare girl that will not nap. I wouldn't even mind so much if she would lay there but she's all over the place and keeping the other kids awake. I feel like I've tried everything with her. I've tried laying her next to different kids, tried laying her by herself( gets up and runs around), tried pack and play ( climbs out ), tried rubbing her back, laying with her, noise, no noise and nothing works. Anyone have any suggestions that I'm not thinking of?

I think I have her twin sister here! The only thing I have found that will keep her quiet is books on her mat. I give her a huge stack, and she "reads" away! She has been this way since she was a baby- some kids just aren't nappers. It's frustrating some days when I see the older kids napping, and the little one is still awake!

      been there..

I just keep placing them back on their cots, over and over and over again. Eventually, they get the point that they aren't going to be able to run around. It's exhausting to play that game, but eventually they learn that I always win.

You will need to lay her down on her mat and then stay right next to her so she cannot get up or disturb others.

Rinse and repeat until she "gets it".

It's hard sometimes but if you want them all to rest, you are going have to do the hard work of training them to your expectations.

I just went through this with my youngest toddler (18 months). It took 2 weeks straight to get the child to understand they needed to lie still and stay on their mat. Now the child goes down easily and without a fuss.

I'd make sure her mat was next to something solid (wall, bookcase, etc) so she's not out in the open. It feels more secure. Then tuck her blanket around the edges of the mat so she's snug. I also second the suggestion of sitting beside her. Also, it helps if they have a heavier blanket.

Audiobooks on iTunes puts my kids to sleep faster than anything. Turn it down a little low so they have to be quiet to listen.

I have her brother here apparently. He used to nap and last week just stopped. Literally, 5 minutes he napped for and then is crawling over, making noise, waking kids up. UGH. Nap time is my quiet time, my get crap done time. Not deal with a 2 year old who doesn't feel the need to nap anymore. Though, this is the kid who needs to be potty trained suddenly and is nowhere ready because mom is due next MAY::.
