I’m Going To Have To Term :\

Looking for some advice I guess. I have a family that I have has issues with before, well this top's the cake so to speak. They was on vacation. the following I was on vacation and I was to open back up on the 20th. Everyone show's up but this family. I no longer have her current cell phone number so I leave her a fb msg. She seen this message at 6:00 pm and never got back to me as to why they didn't show up. I have never heard from her. So as of today, of her scheduled days she has missed 5. Thats 5 days no show, and no contact. I am an understanding person, but this is a little to much for me to handle. I wrote her again, she has never seen it. And I spoke with her mother since we go to the same church. I was informed that she got a new phone, and her mother would have her call me..and that she was not working right now.

This would not be the first time she got laid off/quit and didn't tell me. She done that about 2 years ago, and her mother ended us telling me. So the only thing I know to do is send her a termination letter, and a copy to her case worker and call it a day...Should I?? Or should I try and get in contact with her in person??

    Thanks - Manda

My contract states that after 5 days of no contact, the family is termed.

I bill them for the last two weeks of care and send a letter/invoice by certified mail along with the official termination letter.

I set a deadline for payment and if they fail to pay, I pursue further legal action.

IMO, not letting you know her situation or status as far as her child(ren)'s spot in your child care, is inconsiderate and disrespectful. I know that you are confused on what to do. But in my PHB, I stated that if they are a no-show and if I haven't heard from them in 5 days, they will be terminated. I stressed communication is VERY important.

I know things happen, but I don't see a reason why she's not communicating with you. You have done all you can to see what was going in with her. You have a business to run.

It's over. Send the letter. You will just embarrass yourself trying to continue to contact her.

I replied in your other thread. I also agree with the poster that said to stop continuing trying to contact her.

Sounds to me that the client termed themselves. I would send a letter to have on file, but then be done with them.

Yes, I think I agree with you. I just put the letter in the mail, made a copy and I am sending one to her caseworker. Thanks everyone for helping to reassure me I was doing what was right.

IMHO, this is implied termination on her part and I'd forward her bill.

If unpaid after specified date I'd file collections and move on with my life.

Yes, it is rude, but it happens more than you'd think.
                - Unless otherwise stated, all my posts are personal opinion and worth what you paid for them.

She is through county, her copay is about $14 for 3 kids. Honestly she wasn't hardly here in August, so I wavered it just so I don't have to deal with it. Now Im praying that she just takes the termination quietly..She is kinda well she can be evil..

So I am afraid what will happen. But I do feel some relief that I sent out the paperwork.

I'd call your licensor and/or her case worker and give them a head's up so they know BEFORE she does and that way this mom can't get all "evil" with you.

I have already spoken with her case worker, and I am being re-certified tomorrow so I am going to mention it to her.

Don't accept her back a third time. I wouldn't have accepted her after the first time she pulled this. I'd be "full" the next time she called to ask for daycare ... forever.

Oh I will..I have learned my lesson! I have known the family since childhood, so I was being nice..But I done with being used..and if you all knew what I when through about a year ago, you would be floored..
