How To Explain That "Yes, You Do Need To Pay"

I know that I read a thread not too long ago about this. But, the search function seems to be glitching on me today. It just pulls up a blank page.

So, I charge my families weekly. And they pay even if the child doesn't attend. (I don't charge for my vacations, but I do charge for theirs.) It is in my contract.

I just received a text. DCgrandma is going to visit and watch DCG for 2 weeks. Since she isn't going to be here and they are letting me know early, do they still have to pay?

So short answer is - yes you still have to pay.

My question for you all - what is the best way to word my answer? I know I have read some clever and concise replies to this type of request.
    Help, please?

Isn't that frustrating! If you feel like you want to explain why, you could say something like:

"Yes, you do need to pay. Your payment not only compensates me for my time caring for little Susie, it also holds her spot at daycare and guarantees she will have a place here when you need it."

My response is usually something like this:

"Tuition payments are enrollment based not attendance based.

When the child care is closed, payment is not due.

When the child care is open, payment is due regardless of attendance."

Yes except if you have paid closed holidays I could see them throwing this back in your face...

This. I would probably explain that I cannot fill a space for only 2 weeks but that may be because I have a horrible tendency to over explain!

Great wording! I will have to keep this for a future reference.

I take paid holidays and I would reply back, "Payment is due regardless of attendance. I'm sure DCK will have a great time with Grandma! We will miss them." or I might refer them to the page in my parent handbook that discusses this more in depth.

I would word it just like the others did, its not only for their attendance but to hold their place. You aren't able to fill those spots for 2wks and only for 2wks. Maybe if you're feeling generous you could do a discounted weekly rate for place holding but that's at your discretion.

Yes payment is due whether the child attends or not. If you change your mind and decide to bring him we will be here to provide care. Just let me know.

This lets them know they can still bring him.
