I have a DC child who will be starting Kindergarten. My hours are 7am -5pm. The DC child will be here be here from 8am until the bus comes at 9am four out of five mornings a week. I will be feeding the child breakfast as well on these mornings. The bus will drop back off around 4:20 and the child is usually here until 5pm. One morning a week, the child will get here at 8:45 and leave on the bus at 9am. Same afternoon schedule. What is a fair price to charge the DKP? Also, the average rate for a full time school age child in our area is $120/wk.

For all day school agers I charge by the hour. My rate is $7/hr. If he is there an hour and 20 min. I'd charge for 2 hours, etc. I also charge for full release days at my daily school age rate of $35/day and $150/week in the summer. My rates are competitive with the disctrict's before/after school program in my area.- Flag

I'm in MN. Rates vary by area. Is there an before/afterschool program in town? What do they charge? What's your regular rate for under SA? When I took SA, it was $50/week. Any days not in school were regular rate (at that time it was $25/day). I've stopped taking SA, so not sure what current rates are around here.- Flag

That is the standard rate around my neck of the woods.
I also offered a weekly flat rate of $60 REGARDLESS of attendance.
Our schools now do early release EVERY Wednesday so the school age kids arrive at daycares up to an hour earlier than they did before so I would have to account for that time too.
I no longer take SA kids before or after school simply because the amount of time they are actually needing care isn't worth the amount of effort/work I have to put into it.....especially for the low pay involved.- Flag
