    ugghh, nap issues!

I have two kids starting right now, which I hate doing, but moms are both teachers so thats the timing of things. One is 8 months, the other is 14 months. They are both eating for me and playing well with the other kids. Of course there is some separation anxiety at the door and some clinginess but nothing out of the norm.

then we get to nap times....both are on two naps a day and I have put them on the nap times that work with my schedule. There really is no negotiating that due to meal times, school pickups and whatnot. They both SCREAM for naps although once they get sleeping, they generally do pretty well. but the screaming before hand is so awful that my hands were shaking when I was diapering them. They both know nap is coming, neither wakes well...as in, the screaming continues even after nap time is over, maybe 15 minutes after? no tears, no red face, no crying for hunger or dirty diaper....just screaming at the top of the lungs.

i know this will take some time though because neither were on good schedules before coming here and neither were transitioned to daycare at all, meaning that the moms just got them up early on that first day and dropped them off....no transitioning of wake up times at home! nice (insert sarcasm)

so with all that in mind, i only have one extra room to put nap time screamers in and i put them in there together. they keep each other awake but i dont know what else to do. if i put either in the nap areas, they are too loud for the other kids and too loud for me. but now my worry is that even if one is getting tired, they just keep each other up now.

have you transitioned two nap time screamers at once? is it better to just stick them together and let them work it out? they are both in individual pack and plays. todays naps were not better but at least they were not so disruptive to the group.

Yes, I would personally out them together. I would do a consistent nap time transition each and every day. Soft music, dark room. I would hope they work it out together, if not, I'd go to plan b

I'd keep putting them in the same room. I would also get a white noise machine, or similar, and try to put the pack n plays out of sight of each other.

the room is small and they can both pull up and peek out so I havent figured out an idea to keep them from seeing one another. the room is darkened and i will be adding white noise as well. although neither seems to be bothered by other noises in the house once they are sleeping.

thanks for the posts. now I dont feel so horrible putting them together.

When I had a small nap room and two kids I made a stand out of PVC and draped a black sheet over it. Worked great as a barrier.

I have a new naptime screamer. I took the blower from the old bouncy room & pointed in the hallway. Drowns him out & he finally goes to sleep.
