    What Could It Be?

Two of the daycare girls two and under both had fever on the same day. They both now has blisters on their palms and foot bottom.

I only notice it today. One mom said her child played in sand and got blisters the next mom said it is her sandals.

Oh yes. I just send both home.

But what can it be and will I get it?

Although both kids apparently had the blisters before today as it started during the week but parents did not informed me until i saw it today

Tis the season for Hand, Foot and Mouth.

Sigh...sorry to hear you are dealing with this, but it is the most likely scenario.

Sounds like hand, foot and mouth disease to me.

Yup, HFM. It gets worse before it gets better. Crossing fingers and toes you (or anyone else) doesn't get it!

The first link I posted tells you the exclusion time and what to do and not to to spread it.

I believe just good hygiene. Sanitize toys and surfaces. I was instructed to only exclude children with a fever when it went through our daycare.

Agree on hand, foot, mouth. I had it here once. Dcg got it from family while on vacation. Thankfully, she was never here. I had her stay out until fever was gone, no new blisters appeared and weren't oozing, and she could eat regular food. She had it bad in her mouth so all she ate was applesauce, popsicles, etc. She was out about a week. Good luck!

I agree with the HFM answers. I know another provider that will close her daycare for the week if she has 2 or more kids with it, just to prevent spreading it (not required).

I spend four hours just washing toys one by one with amtibacterial soap. What i did was to take all toys on the deck then i get a rag with soap and thrn hose down and allow to air dry. Then i do the same with foam mats and playpens. This gibes me a chance to reorganized my daycare as it wa all clear out. I now just put back a few toys am make centre with the toy shelves as dividers.

I did email the two moms and tod them the girls are not to come Monday to daycare a the parents said the blisters turned to sores. I will excudle them tomorrow as the parent cover it up and send them Thursdsy and Friday with the blisters to me.
