    Ergh! Frustrated!

So, after 3 text messages and a phone call (with a voicemail message), I finally get an answer back at NOON that DCG isn't coming today.

I could've had the day off - the other DCK is here today only because he's doing a couple trial days before he starts full-time, and we scheduled one today because another kid would be here, too. I could've been spending time with my own two kids. Instead, we're stuck here with new DCB who cries during meal times because he doesn't like to eat any food and screeches and whines during the entire nap time.

I'm so frustrated - which is not helping my jacked up back/neck that has been bothering me for the last 3 days.

Do you not have a drop off limit? Many providers have a rule that if a child is not dropped off by 9AM then they are considered absent for the day so essentially they cannot drop off later at all.

I don't, only because I have never come across that issue before. DCD sent me a text this morning, about 20 minutes before their normal drop-off time saying that he would be dropping her off a little later this morning, and he would send me a text when they were on their way. This is fine with me, because all I ask for is advanced notice in schedule changes. Apparently, they "got carried away with daddy-daughter morning".

I require a 24 hour notice regarding a time change for drop off or pick up. I also require them arrive within 1 hour of their schedule arrival time for at day or else they are marked absent. Main reason is because I contract exact hours. They get one hour before their shift is to start and one our after their shift ends.

It's nice that he wants to spend time with his little girl happyface but that's so rude not to let you know first thing .

Agreed. Which is partially why I feel bad even getting mad about it, haha. He has a job where he works night shift most of the time, so even though he's home during the day when she's here, he's sleeping, she goes home sees him for maybe an hour, then he goes to work. All understandable. I just wish it could have been set up a head of time ... I would have really liked some mommy/kid time today, too!

I have it in my contract that at 9AM...unless I have heard differently...I assume they are not coming and plan accordingly. That may mean giving my assistant the day off. As I have to maintain ratios, surprise latecomers will then be turned away and no discount will be given for the day.

                I like that rule!

In WI we have to call if a parent hasn't dropped of by a certain amount of time after their scheduled time. I charge a fee for that service. Each time I have to call.

I like that, haha. I was starting to panic a little, especially because, of course while I was waiting for contact, I kept hearing sirens all morning (we live near the hospital, so hear them often anyways).

I think at the start of next year, I may have to enforce a drop-off time rule. I JUST handed out some new policy things, so I don't want to have to do it AGAIN right away. In January they will be getting a boat load of updates, haha.

Just a suggestion, but I don't allow trial days on either Mondays or Fridays. Those are the days most likely to be low on dck's making it almost worthless to have a child weaning in.
