Has School Started Where You Are?

School starts next Wednesday for this area. I don't generally take school age kids but I'll be getting two siblings on the bus in the morning before most of my other kids arrive. The kids used to come to my dc when they were younger. I'm looking forward to seeing them again. They're such good kids!

My kids started Monday. I have 3 schools to pick up from, so my afternoons are busy from 12:30-2 with the staggered pick ups. After the first 2 weeks of school, schedules will change and then it'll be 1:30-3 for my afternoon pickups.

My mornings are quiet with just 3-4 little ones and lunch is so much easier without all 8 kids here!

That is the way it used to be here! Geez, the HS started even earlier on August 12th.
Not sure why the school's are starting so early in August and getting out in May. :confused: It really makes no sense to me!

Most of the elementary/middle/high schools around here have started. My school starts Monday (which is really weird because it normally starts on a Wednesday). and one daycare I applied for a job for starts the same day, another that I might do student teaching at if I don't get the paying job starts after labor day.

Yep, unless they file something. Can't remember what, but there are a couple of small towns around here that have started in mid-August because they needed to get out earlier for construction or projects going on in the school. It has something to do with tourism doesn't it? I seem to remember some big thing in the Star Trib I believe a few years back about letting districts decide independently, but obviously nothing ever came of it.

Our schools always start the fist week of August and don't get out until the last week of may. I never understood why they start early and get out late, especially when they require the little ones go the last two weeks of school during exams. I think that's stupid.

The private schools here start one week later and get out one week earlier.

None of my 8 here are leaving this year for Kinder.

All schools start here on Aug. 26. My due date is labor day, so I've got to say that I'm GLAD schools start sooner rather than later.

My elementary school boys started Thursday, my high schooler started yesterday, my college'er starts next Friday and my hubby starts the following Tuesday.

My kids start Sept 4th... I am so looking forward to a quiet house with the littles but hopefully I can add some more to the bottom line! Things will be tight
