    Kids Eating Paper & Stuff

I'm trying to sympathize with.DCD who called me a couple hours after closing saying his kid choked up a little sticker.
We were doing a craft right before closing and obviously this 2.5 year old ate a couple of the stickers. Dck chocked one up right after leaving and threw one up an hour later! I would be upset if i were the parent, but a call "to let me know" what was going on? ....And then I emailed tonight to make sure all was ok and he says how upset he is and watching Dck like a hawk.
I feel terrible. As a parent I'm not sure I would be as upset as they seem to be, but maybe I'm wrong? I don't know. I'm not worried about the Dck at all. Is that wrong? It's been 5 hours..
I'm only upset because the parents are mad at me. I'm far too sensitive. In fact it will likely keep me up all night
And this kid is leaving anyway. Last day tomorrow. Already all paid up.

I'm sorry you are dealing with this. Hopefully dad will calm down over night.

I had a dck arrive and while mom was handing her to me, she gagged up a penny! I was so glad it happened in front of mom, and there was no way they could have said she found the penny here.

Oh my goodness! That is so lucky that they were there.
      It can be scarey

        It's a sticker. I think she'll be a-ok.

I wouldn't be that upset as a parent if my child swallowed one or two little stickers.

However, perhaps he is wondering if you knew the child swallowed them and didn't say anything or if you didn't know. If he thinks you didn't know he might be concerned about the level of supervision and what else the child may have or could swallow. KWIM? You know you have a safe space and even when parents trust you it only takes the fear of their child being harmed for doubt to start to creep in.

Most parents freak at the thought of their child choking or swallowing something toxic. Perhaps he just needs some reassurance?

I have one right now that snacks on sidewalk chalk and had one a couple years ago that thought crayons were food.

            kids are so WEIRD.

(says the woman that vividly remembers being under 2...maybe under 1...and picking fuzz balls off the blanket on her parents' bed and mouthing them. It felt funny!)
Hee hee! Look, I have a signature!

I have one that likes side walk chalk. It doesn't bother me.

Dck isn't even coming today. Call me paranoid but should I worry about a licensing visit?

O.M.G. It may hurt now, but a parent that freaks out over that is not going to be viewed as a big loss in the future. The child will probably swallow something worse before growing up!

was the sticker matallic, like shiney. Because that made my ydd throw up. If he's worried about his kid eating stickers, imagine what he's eating at home and the parent doesn't know.

my ydd use to eat the tops off of markers. You know the crayola big fat ones. We couldn't keep markers in the house because she would chew them off. Her tongue was black but it did stop.

They were leaving anyway. I had them here for 2.5 years. Never would have suspected this reaction

No, just plain stickers. And very little ones.

IMO, by 2.5 the child shouldn't be eating stickers but I'm sorry the parents are upset with you.

Once I had a 10 mo old poop out a wiggly eye. It was just staring up at me... ::
