New dcm calls me yesterday a.m. and wants to know if anyone has had pinkeye. I tell her not that I'm aware of. Her dd woke up with red goopy eyes and was waiting for the dr. to open so they could see her. She calls me back and said dr. didn't want to see her, that they couldn't really make a 100% diagnosis but they were just going to prescribe drops over the phone as if she did have it. I'm thinking really? Ok. And the dr. tells them some daycares allow the child back, some want to wait 24 hrs. for the drops to be used. I reminded them of my policies and they were okay with that.
But is this something new? I've always disallowed the child with pinkeye symptoms from childcare for 24 hours.
