I have talked about a dcb in my care who can't have any gluten or dairy and how every time this child does anything wrong or is acting up, his parents blame it on gluten, not that he just turned 3 and that his behavior is normal behavior for a 3 year old!
Well the other day this dcb took a toy from his little brother and wouldn't give it back. I told him that he had to give the toy back, that his brother was playing with it and when his brother is done then he can play with it. It took dcb a few minutes to give the toy back and he wasn't happy. When he gave it back, I asked him why he took the toy and why he wouldn't give it back. Guess what his reply was!? He told me "I've been having Gluten"! My husband and I looked at each other and secretly had to laugh. I told him that he hasn't had any here and I'm sure his mom and dad didn't give him any. I then asked what he ate that had gluten and he said "dairy"! I told his parents and they just laughed. I wish they knew that when they constantly say something that their child is going to say and believe it too.
It just goes to show that children pick up on everything! Now this dcb has an excuse for everything. He's going to preschool and his last day here was Friday. I wonder if he will say that in preschool....or with his mom and dad... after all, they started it :
