    Scream Scream!!!!

When is the last time you had a DCK come without issues? Is it me or do they not come with parental guidance anymore? New DCB, 4, screams the entire nap. DCM says she doesn't make him take one because he cries. Oh..., & he sleeps with them too. Other newbie tries to jump on the furniture every chance he get followed by tantrums. Not having that behavior here....

    What's your latest newbie issue?

In the last 5 years EVERY child who has entered my program has jumped/climbed on my furniture.

90% of my daycare kids don't have ANY rules at home, it's a free for all and the parents wonder WHY they won't behave. They aren't sure what IS acceptable/unacceptable, DUH!

Newbie issue- 2.5 yo only gets redirected at home. Hitting with that toy? Lets find you another toy. (the child then walked over to the same kid and hit with the new toy, Mom got a softer toy the 3rd time)

NO BEDTIMES or schedule whatsoever is probably my biggest challenge. *sigh*

My biggest pet peeve is lack of manners. I teach that as soon as they can talk. My youngest has been saying please, thank you, yes please, no thank you, excuse me, bless you, and may I please be excused since before he was 2. New dck (5) sneezed, dcg said bless you and dck said "WHAT DOES THAT MEAN!?" and thought he was being insulted.

I agree 100%!!!! Many come with lack of manners or knowledge of house rules- like NO my couch isn't a trampoline-
I have also gotten a ton of kids the past years with special needs- I think it is meant to be as I have been able to help some get diagnoses and treatment lovethis. But the joke with one of my dcm who's son has ASD is that I must cause it because they all come here and suddenly get diagnosed!::

        Hmm... mid 1990's??

That is why I only enroll infants.

My latest newbie issue is breast feeding DCM's love of peppers....
        - Unless otherwise stated, all my posts are personal opinion and worth what you paid for them.

That's where I am now, too. I don't need to have 8 to make it financially, so I charge a little more for infants, and limit my group to 4 or 5 (depending on ratios and schedules). I have a little house for dc, anyway, so it works out better just from that standpoint.

I'm really no longer interested in enrolling new kids over 6 months, even. I'd rather have them start as littles.
