    Finally!

I finally had a call from licensing and she is coming Aug. 22.!

We have been working on this since Dec. My state paperwork stated it takes 4-6 mo and I didn't believe it! I sent in my paperwork the end of April. My pre-licensor missed an important requirement. Fingerprinting because we lived out of state within the last three years. I asked her about it and she said it isn't required .....and it came back June 15 that we did need it and it put put us months behind!

Yesterday she told me people rarely get their license the day she comes and usually still have corrections. I am 99% confident everything is ready! if you do not pass she has to come again and I am sure she said she would not be in my area for a long time again. What does it take?? Years in this state!

Those of you in Wisconsin....tell me there is hope of ever getting licensed!

Hoping things go swiftly for you.....

It is quick here....I applied for my license in the beginning of October and had my license in my hand by the end of November.

BC, I wish my part of the state operated more like yours! I applied in March, and I'm still waiting for that inspection.

I'm in a different state, but I started the whole process in May, and just got licensed last week. And I thought that was a long time! Guess I'm impatient.

My licensing consultant told me the same thing, but she licensed me on the spot after all. She said I was the first person she licensed on the spot. I knew my regulations inside and out. I was able to spot places where she was stating things they want but aren't required by law. But, I chose to tread very carefully when showing her what was beyond the requirement of the law. So, for licensing on the spot, knowing your regulations inside and out, and knowing that you meet them, is the trick. Of course, your regulations are different than mine, but I just wanted to encourage you. If you know you are in compliance with all the rules, there's really not much else you can do.

Every situation is different, but my consultant seemed most impressed with the following:
              1) I had thoroughly cleaned under all sinks and there was absolutely nothing unsafe for children under any of them.
              2) I could show her locked cabinets and a locked pantry door where all cleaning supplies and meds were.
              3) I have child size tables and chairs for eating at. She was so pleased and said that most people just say they'll have the kids sitting at the kitchen table. Of course, it's good enough for my own kids to sit at regular furniture, but very important to my licensor for dc kids to sit at little dc furniture.

Of course, your's could be looking for totally different things. Just thought I'd share what little input I have. I nailed licensing. Now I just need clients!

We have a 14 pg checklist to get through and then you contact the pre-licensor....she comes and goes through the place with a fine tooth comb.

I had a few thing to finish up on or change ....when you feel you have everything checked off you send it into licensing and they make an appointment to do the final check.

I am 100% complete on all those reqiurements. The only thing will be if she comes up with something not on the checklist.
