    Just Had A Surprise Inspection..

And I got a deficiency for two kids not having their 4th DTAP immunization

Everything else was great! Except for that. I really hate that we get in trouble for what is the parents responsibility! Ugh.

Is there a cheat sheet that tells you when kiddos need their immunizations? That way I can parent the parents.

Oh no!! That stinks Licensing gave me a copy of that during my last inspection even though every one was up to date. I'm surprised they didn't give you one. I'm sure you could call them and have them email something like that or find one online.

      I use a website called catch-up.......

it will tell you what shots they need to catch up on and ones that are coming up....

BTW. you can print out a copy of the schedule by age immunizations sheet. When a child falls in that age group, I just tell the parents that they have X amount of days to get that immunization taken care of or their child will not be able to return to care..

Arrrgghh!! this is the very reason that I strongly considering letting my license expire. I'm so tired of having to have these types of things up to date - things that have no affect on the level of care that I provide my clients.

The only thing that made me renew my license was my liability insurance. I'd have a harder time getting insurance not being licensed.

Our licensor gives us a cheat sheet to follow for immunizations.

I actually asked her for one and she said she didn't have one to give me.

Maybe there's one on their website I can print out.

Needless to say, I called their parents for immediate pick up and told then they couldn't come back until they had the immunization and got a copy to me. One said he had it but she didn't have a copy. I said fine, you can bring him back when you have the paper.

Thank you! I will look at that.

Silly me,I thought the parents would keep up with that.

            Rookie mistake.

So they can't be in care if they don't immunize?? I have some kids that don't immunize, others that have varying schedules. Immunizations are a personal decision that parents should make with input from their doctor!

Amen!!! I am here too!!! Unfortunately with NYS I would only be able to care for two not related to me and unlimited three hours or less... Not enough income at this point for me

I actually agree with this but I think the history of immunizations with just that one missing shows that they have every intention of immunizing, they are just falling behind on it.

If they were to have submitted a form that states that they don't immunize for whatever reason, at least I would have had that to show licensing.

I have one that hasn't had her 18 mo shots yet, she's 21 mos. The dr keeps postponing them for one reason or another. This time they postponed them due to a pending surgery. I made the mom get a dr's note written on a prescription stating that they were holding off on the shots.

I don't feel it's my responsibility, but the state does, so I stay on the parents.

The state has no way to control parents and imm any other way but through daycare and school.
If they have an acceptable note from their dr then they can still be in dc or school with out them.

Have all your parents fill out a sheet that says they do not immunize. I haven't done that yet but I'm considering it.

There's a little box they can check on my medical report from the state. happyfacehappyface

Most states just require an exemption form. I have to have one for my own kids who have to be "enrolled" in the daycare under a certain age. Luckily, I don't for my teen.
