    Ever Fantasize About Retiring?

Just to be able to open the bathroom or kitchen cabinets without having to work free child-safety locks. Or worry about making sure the floors are clean every morning. I could get rid of all the safety gates. Unplug my outlets. Hold a GIANT yard sale and sell ALL my kid stuff! I could have real glass glasses in my cupboard instead of plastic cups. Have my knife block on the shelf where it'd be handy. I could use my playroom as a nice relaxing reading room. Maybe even adopt a couple more pups. I wouldn't have to eat ice cream on the sly during the day. AND last but not least, I could actually use the bathroom without someone following me, or yelling for me, or starting a fight.

Ah....just imagine. Be as good as winning the lottery. Almost.

ahhhh, yes... I remember those dreams. I used to think it would happen once my youngest went to school. But now he's in his 3rd year of elementary school and I've come to realize its nothing but a dream.

What is this retirement you speak of? :: I'm pretty sure, even though I've gotten much better at saving for retirement, unless I actually do win the lottery I'll be caring for kids until I drop dead from exhaustion .

I do dream about it. It would be nice to focus on my children all 7 days of the week instead of other peoples in addition to my own for 5 of them.
But, I do feel called to do this and if I have to make a living this is a great way to do so. There aren't many quality programs around here and many are quite sketchy and alarming. Yelling at the children, not noticing that they leave the house or daycare center on their own, having them watch TV all day, never taking them outdoors, allowing children to constantly assault each other, etc. Things that I think children need are not given to them in many of the other places around here and I'm glad I can provide something better. 5 clients have come from places such as these...

I like to dream, though, as it feels like a mini-vacation to me. ::

I miss my sewing room. I dream of getting it back. And I'd love to have a kitchen without a high chair or a booster seat. And a couple of empty drawers in my file cabinet where all of my daycare stuff was stored. And only one glue stick and set of markers. And no crayons. And I will never allow glitter in my house again! ::

OH Good Grief, no glitter EVER again, I couldn't agree more!!
Crazy8, my youngest is now entering her 3rd year of college and I've finally accepted this as my life's work. Even with no kids home anymore, the pros still outweigh the cons for me. Well, except I don't get benefits like being somebody else's employee might offer me. But I wouldn't want to be someone else's employee.

                  I never dream of retirement.

                  It would mean I'm dead.
