Canceling A Prescheduled Drop In Day

I have a drop in day scheduled in about 10 days with a current client (adding a day they don't normally use) on my day off. I just looked in my calendar and I have something else scheduled that day and clearly made a mistake when scheduling the drop in day. I'm going to email DCM and ask her if canceling would be too big of a hassle. I will mention in the email that if canceling is not okay I can see about rescheduling my commitment, but would really rather not (its my anniversary and DH and I were going to spend the day together and go through all the stuff from our baby shower the weekend before). What would you do?

I would just email her and say something like, "I am so sorry about this, but I misread the calendar! I'm not actually available that day. So sorry for the inconvenience, but I won't be available to watch [child] that day. I will offer you a $5 discount the next time you need me though, to make up for the inconvenience!"
Hee hee! Look, I have a signature!

yes. DO NOT offer to reschedule, every single parent will take you up on this, every single time.

I agree. I wouldn't ask if it was ok...I'd just let her know it isn't.

The $5 discount is a nice gesture.

I also think you are giving plenty of notice so the parent has enough time to find alternate arrangements.
