Giving out a code for your front door?

We had a new security system installed recently and I really like it.

I have a camera that records when motion is detected at the front door and a bunch of other jazz but the main thing i'm concerned about is the code on the keypad.

You can program two codes. I was wondering if I should have one for us and one for daycare parents. I would disarm that code after hours.

Would you give this to the parents? I would prefer that they knock first and if I don't answer, then use it. Do you think they would actually comply with that or just use it anyway?

I also don't mind pick ups at nap time as long as they text me when they get here. But I don't want them using the code to come in and wake up kids during that time.

    Thoughts?

If you gave them the code you could always disable it during nap time. I'd warn them though so they don't blow up your doorbell when it didn't work.

We are a getting a simpler version with our new front door. I will give my dcp's the code, because until now I have not been one to lock the front door during dc hours.

I suppose if anyone leaves under poor circumstances, I will change the code.

Although I don't have a security system, I do have a keyless entry system on my front door. Poole that live in my household get their own code to get in which work all of the time and I give each client of mine their own code to get in. We are often in the back and sometimes don't hear the door so I like it. I'd definetely give a code out to your clients.

I personally disable my clients codes during non daycare hours and during naptime so that clients don't arrive during those times so I think that is a great idea that will help you keep arrivals during that time at a minimum.

If and when a client leaves for whatever reason you can change the code and pass out a newcode so that there's no way they could get in to youe house once they are no longer clients.

I didn't even think of just disarming it during nap time as well. Duh. ::

            Thanks, ladies!
