    Screams when sees mom

I have a 12 month old dcg that I've had since she was about 2 months. She's here about 40-50 hrs a week and I've never had any problems with her coming to me at drop off . She seems happy during the day for the most part. Lately though when mom comes to pick up she screams as soon as she picks her up. Yesterday she started screaming as soon as she seen mom and when she was holding her she arched herself and did everything she could to get away from her. Dad has picked her up once in the past month and she was fine going with him.
Maybe I'm looking to much into this but I found it odd at her age she acted this way towards mom. Any thoughts?

If she's with you 40-50 hours a week you have this think that she's probably with you more than mom. Its sad but its a reality we face as child care providers. At that age she's probably experiencing some separation anxiety and instead of it being with mom its with you. I wouldn't read too much into it. It will pass. In the mean time you might be able to start prepping her for her mom's arrival. "Mommy is going to be here soon to pick you up, how exciting to see mommy! Mommy's are the best, huh?" Good luck!

I agree with Brooksie! I've had children do that before! Right now I have a 2.5 year old who will be 3 on Sat., who is an angel here, but as soon as he sees mom or dad come to pick up, boy watch out! He screams and cries and yells that he doesn't want to go home! Mom doesn't put up with it and has to take him out to the car so we can hear each other talk. (Funny though, this same child's mom also said he doesn't want to come here.....) Now I tell him that his mom/dad will be here soon to prepare him, but so far it hasn't helped.

Your child just doesn't have the words to say how she's feeling yet.

Just look at the bright side-she loves you! Our kids think we are awesome! lovethis
