OMG Incident Between 2 Year Old And Baby!

So I was preparing snack when it happened.... a little two year old either scratched baby (3 months old) or got her with a toy... either way a mark was left that did bleed a little bit. Baby was of course distraught. I am all out of sorts now as not a one injury has ever occurred on my watch! Has this ever happened to anyone else? OMG!!! I did inform mom already so it was not a shock at pick up.

We had a 17 mo get tripped (accidentally) by a 2 yo while we were played outside. He must have hit a stick or rock or something when he fell (we never found anything, really no idea what it could have been) and it cut his nostril pretty bad. Tons of blood, and even ended up with a scar! We felt SO bad, but mom was understanding and he is still w/ us and almost 5

Relax, I am sure mom understands that things happen in group care.

I've had things happen too and all you can do is learn from it an move one.

In the future, I would NEVER leave an infant (under 12 months) in another room alone (without an adult).

Any time I have to leave the room (to prepare lunch etc) I separate the littles from the big ones.

If there is not an adult's eyes on the child at ALL times, then they need to be kept safe by separation.

next time take the little babies with you and put them in high chairs to make snack or lunch.. I sing to them and talk to them ...they love it
2-3 year olds get really jealous of all the attention and time babies get and will last out at them if given a chance.
relax it happens ... if your kitchen is big enough ... put baby in pack n play( just realized the baby is 3 moths old... too young for a high chair

I have an open concept house upstairs where I hold daycare. They were no more than 20 feet from me, unseperated by anything (walls, islands, etc). I think that's why I feel so bad about it.
