    Terming And Paid Vacation Days

I am writing a term letter to my new family, which I've discussed with both parents. I am trying to figure out what to do- I have 1 week until my vacation (I am taking off a Thursday, Friday, and Monday to go out of town.) I was going to offer care just until my vacation began. We decided to give it a little more time, but I can tell the baby needs more infant care (she cries when I'm away doing things for the older kids), so I'm writing the term notice today. Should I give her 2 weeks from today and deduct my vacation time from her tuition? Have her pay like normal if she does keep her past my vacation time?
I've already told her if they find care elsewhere early that I will refund any days she has paid for and doesn't use. I've had many interested people interview and can start care ASAP, but I want to be fair to this family as well.
    WWYD in this situation? TIA

Since it is a mutual decision, or atleast amicable, I would just give notice to up to your vacation days and only charge until then.

The point of a two week notice is to give you time to fill the space and not have a break in your budget and since you have people waiting to fill the space, I would be flexible and allow mom to pay UP until your vacation days and leave it at that.

    Seems fair to everyone.

They may just call you again in the future once their infant is no longer an infant...kwim?

That's what I was thinking, too. This family has had a very hard time finding someone they liked enough for their DD before me, and I feel horrible that it's not working out. I'm going to let them know that if they still would like to bring DCG to me in 9 months or after, that I'd love to have her back! I love babies, but if they can't play independently for some times of the day, it just doesn't work for my environment!

I would give a full two weeks notice and since you would like to have them back, I personally would only charge for the days used.
