    Cubbies

I've been wanting a hanging cubby for a long time. Kids are always rifling through their backpacks and taking things out; can't keep track of all their stuff. So I received some grant money and one of the things I requested was a wall-hanging cubby. I thought it would be a piece of cake to hang up myself.
What was I thinking? The thing is pretty solid and must weigh 80+ pounds.

Does anyone here have one? If so, how did you install it? I have a dcd who I asked today if he'd be able to help me. He's a contractor. First thing he said after trying to heft it was 'I don't think I'd put it up'. Then he started talking about ways he could do it to insure it'd stay secure on the wall.
I told him to let me know how much it'll cost. So I guess he'll do it but he wasn't real convincing. Now he has me worried.

I would anchor it into studs. Did it come with an assembly kit?

I built my own shelving unit for shoes, backpacks and cubbies. It's almost floor to ceiling and we mounted it into studs for safety. Massive, heavy thing, such a pitb! I hope you can figure something out!!!

It came with absolutely nothing. And all it said in the catalog was to make sure it's installed according to state specifications.
Wow dcdiva, yours sounds really big and amazing!

I have this one from DSS:

Here it is in the playroom:

Ours came with a piece of beveled wood in addition to the pieces to assemble the cabinet/lockers. At first, we were super confused but realized you secure the wood to the wall into the studs. Then you lift the cabinets and set it on top of the beveled portion of the wood. It's totally secure, but I can't believe it because it's not actually screwed into the wall. My husband and I lifted it and put it on the wood...it was super duper heavy!

Ugh! I wish I could remeber what that is called! A cleat maybe?? Your contractor should know- it is the easiest and a very secure way to hang heavy objects-
You attach a peice of wood almost the length of the item with a lip on the top... Then another peice is attached to the item itself with an upside down version of what you did on the wall- you "hook" the one peice to the other-
