    Would you send him home?

dcb was sick on Wed, so didn't come. He is only WF, so today was his first day back. He didn't show up until 11:50 with no phone call that he was going to be late so I'm already annoyed with his nanny for that. Nanny also told me she was quitting, and today is her last day, which makes me think she will be late to pick up (she often is).

Now he is laying on the playroom floor coughing up a lung and falling asleep, like literally falling asleep on the floor. My policies say that as long as he is fever free for 24 he can be here, but if he is sick enough to be falling asleep on the floor, I think he should go home.

    Thoughts?

Yep! I would send home. If he is sick enough not to be able to participate he should be at home resting. People can't heal if they don't get good rest while they are sick. By staying it is prolonging the time it takes for him to get better and making him miserable for longer (and yes, I would tell DCM/nanny that!)

I would send him home. He is still displaying symptoms of illness and is not well enough to participate in your daily activities. He needs to be resting at home.

OMG sorry, but I can't stand working with nannies/...........

If the child is not able to participate as normal, they need to go home. I would send them home. Coughing up a lung and falling asleep on the floor before nap time tells me they need to go home.

Thanks all. Mom is on the way... I'm seriously shocked that she is coming as she normally has every excuse in the book as to why he isn't actually sick, and why she can't come get him.

Next Friday is his last day anyway, happyface I love him, but this family is a mess!

Question: why does he have a daycare provider and a nanny?!

I have a few kids who have both. Parents are doctors and need a live in nanny. They both work on call.

                  Haha- that makes sense.

This mom is a SAHM, and they have a nanny (live in). I have never understood it. They also have a cleaning lady, and landscapers, I only know this b/c we use the same cleaning lady, this lady does meal prep and laundry for them too. I just don't get it. But hey, to each their own!

When she picked him up she was all "our nanny quite, what are we going to do!!!"

                  Um....play with your kid?

Ah, a life of luxury. I can't imagine what I'd do with all the free-time I'd have, as a housewife, from not raising my children, not cooking, not doing laundry, and not cleaning. What does she do? Does she shop all day? Visit with friends? Go to the spa? I always wonder about people who live like this. I don't know what I would do if I had that much free time.

LOL! We have one family where the mom is SAH and they have a nanny too. They have 3 elementary age girls plus our dcg 3.5. Mom is very ill though and unable to care for the children. Nanny (not live in) goes to their house, wakes up all the girls and gets them ready and takes the older girls to school/activities and dcg to our daycare. Mom sleeps all day then picks up all the kids from school/daycare and spends evening w/ them then goes back to bed when they do.

They (nanny and family) are very considerate and thoughtful and DCG is a joy to have in our daycare
