Lice

DCM told me late last night that she found out she had lice. They caught it early and treated. They checked dcks' heads and found nothing. They treated dcks and dcd anyway. I let them come today since their heads are clean. DCM and I both checked.

My question is this... My daughter had a sleepover last night. Do I need to tell their parents? If I do how do I tell them without giving away who it is? I checked my dd's head this am and she is fine. When I checked her head I said that someone we've had contact with had lice. Should I tell friends' parents the same thing?

I would only tell if my child had lice. If they didn't, I would not. Now, if you do find lice on your child within a couple of days then yes, give a call.

I would do just as you said. I had 2 with it a few weeks ago and it is a pain, I constantly worried about my kids getting it or the other dck's. I would throw pillows, blankets, sheets in dryer for 50 min on high after they left and cover my furniture in the morning. I still don't have the stuffed toys up here because last friday ds and one of them were hugging and had their heads touching...I checked ds right after and found one bug in his hair!!! I freaked, sent dh to buy treatment, sent them home, and informed all the parents to see if they wanted to pick up while I treated ds. I saw nothing on any on the two kids either:confused:...who knows, maybe it came from outside since we just came in but, the coincidence was too much! Either way I caught it before it laid eggs. As a parent I would want to know that there was a possible exposure so I could check my child.

no you do not need to tell anyone your child did not have them neither did the dcg.

As school starts in the fall there will be many cases of lice. now is prime time for them to spread. kids go to movies in the summer. they eat out wear the same batting helmet. Theirs head hit the back of the seat and girls often have long hair.

Best thing you can do is use tea tree oil in the rinse ( I think it stinks) or buy a Ryobi comb. it has a battery in it and goes zap if it hits one and kills it and lets you know there was something there.

If my own child actually had lice, I would call. If someone was *at* my house with lice, I would call. My own kids are older and really don't have much contact with dc or dc equipment so that probably is why I wouldn't even think to say anything.
