happyface Yes! I just got confirmation that my program is rated a 3 out of 5 for the Stars program, which is perfect for me! My goal was to be rated at a 3 and I'm super excited! I don't think I'll really come close to a 4 or 5, but most of the requirements for that rating are things that I can't change or would not want to change! Woooohoooo!
I Have 3 Stars!

Good job!!!! Way to go!! happyface
Do you guys get grant or bonus money for your star rating system?- Flag

I'm going for my 3rd star now! I have everything but in our state its a process of waiting and setting up meetings with the consultant. We get different bonuses for each star and 1/2 of the bonus every 2 years if we stay at the same star . I think I get $800 for my next star!- Flag

I wish my state had bonuses! We don't have to meet with anyone unless we are getting 4 or 5 stars which is weird, but whatever! We do self assessment surveys and have to upload evidence and then someone goes over it and confirms that you are meeting the standards so I guess it's sort of like having a consultant.- Flag

Wonderful!! I never thought they amounted to much and were way too much work. But then my resource specialist worked with me, made it really easy and was super nice through it all. I believe it really does help, especially when dcps are shopping for childcare. Congrats!
As soon as the summer rush is over and life quiets down a bit, I'm going for my 3rd STAR. I've gotten 2; the 1st one I received $250, 2nd one I received $500 and for the 3rd it's $1000.- Flag

Great job melilley!
I was thinking I wasn't going to do the rating, but now I'm starting to check it out. WIsh MI did bonuses like some of these other states.
HOw long did it take you to complete the SAS?- Flag

I know, I wish we got the bonuses!
I did it in Feb. and only had 2 stars, but there was so much controversy over how they did the program so they gave us a second chance to submit things so I'm not sure how long altogether it took. I know it wasn't that long, it just takes time to upload things to show proof.
If you do do it, make sure you read every available resource that they have and call the consultant in your area if you have to! A lot of the indicators can be checked off, but it's hard to tell if you qualify for it the way they have it on there. You will see what I'm talking about when you go on there. And also when I went through completing the sas, there were many things that I didn't do that I realized that I wanted to do in my program that would make it better so I got the things necessary for me to be able to check off that I do it and now I will implement it- for example, one of the indicators says that you do assessments 2 times a year and i didn't do it so I found an assessment checklist and will now do it so I was able to check it off. And also, some of the proofs say that you use an approved medium so I just uploaded what I am going to use and it wasn't on their list, but they let me use it. So some things you wouldn't think you could use, but they let you.
Sorry, I am going on and on and probably confusing you! It's totally up to you if you do it or not, but I definitely think that in the future parents may use these ratings to find their providers. I wasn't going to do it at first either, but if it helps, why not? If you do decide to do it and need ANY help at all, please don't hesitate to contact me!
