    Outside Time Request

So this is a new one for me. DCM texts "can you please keep DCG inside today, I'm very concerned about her. Heading to meeting. Explain later" I tired to call but her phone was off

So I'm thinking DCG is on some meds that cause sensitivity in sunlight or some illness. I spend all afternoon watching her for signs of illness :: but alas DCG is fine. Well sort of DCM shows up and explains she saw weird planes and contrails so she knows they're releasing some chemicals to counteract global warming and poisoning us as a result so she wanted DCG inside so she's not exposed to this round of chemicals.

I told her in the future she's welcome to pick DCG up but I'm required by licensing to get at least 60 mins of outside time. The kids played outside today, DCG and another child stayed in playing playdoh (playroom and patio are separated by large glass windows and sliding door so I can stand between and see all) but we didn't get to play in the water like i had planned so a few were disappointed. We get so few nice days here (it rains a lot in our neck of the woods) and I'm not keeping them in because a plane flies over.

Not one I've heard before (well from a DCP) and definitely not what I expected to hear from this DCM! :: I know a lot of people believe in this and I'm not bashing but really? No outside play? No way!

I'd be bashing...DCM is crazy and paranoid! Ignore "inside" requests from her in the future.

I really think that one of us should make (and sell), a fake sort of bubble suit, and hang it on the wall at our daycares. I would happily offer it to all of these mosquito bite, minor scratch, outdoor danger fearing parents.

Maybe you shouldn't let her outside either because aliens might try to abduct her.

That's the silliest thing I have ever heard.

I have friends that are die hard conspiracy theorists that talk about contrails all the time but this is the first I've heard of the global warming connection.

This family isn't one I'd expect this from which I think made it that much more weird :: She went on for 20 minutes about chemicals, contrails, satellite routes... I just sat there wondering why they use the local organic farm down the street if its under the same contrails

I love the bubble suit idea!

                Oh my .

My DH and I were talking about this the other day. IDK about global warming so ill have to look into that later but I know that the "chemicals" that they releaseiI to the air are meant to better our air, help us breath better, something about UV protection or something and some other stuff. From what I've heard it makes our air quality better.

Like I said, ill have to look into it more. I think they're called chem trails.

I was a chemtrail/contrail virgin until today myself.

Great, another thing to "worry" about.

Bet this kid eats at McDonald's though and eats her fair share of candy....

Why aren't THOSE the chemicals and dangers the parent is concerned about.

I would offer mom the option of either picking her child up during outside time and returning her afterwards or I would hire an assistant to supervise the child indoors while everyone else is outside, but charge the parent the cost of hiring this assistant.

Parents are free to believe anything they would like to believe....I have NO issue with that.

What I do have issue with is when that belief interrupts my ability to care for a GROUP of children and having to keep ALL the children in doors due to one mom's beliefs is ridiculous and completely unfair of her to ask that of you.

I would nod enthusiastically and agree with the mom.

Maybe suggest a aluminum foil beanie hat to ward off alien tranmissions too............

I'm loving this thread!! I probably would have waited for mom to walk out the door and then have a good laugh.

In all honesty I now have something to read up on....this is news to me.
