    No Coat Monday

3 kids, no coats, 58 degrees out. Yep it's Monday!

On the plus side I have no kids right now because I sent all 3 parents (w/kids) to go get coats.

And yes, I have told parents they can leave a sweater/coat here for their child. None of them have.

I am getting in my car and driving to your town. It is 91 here today, and that is a cold front.

I don't give the option of leaving a coat, I insist on it for ALL kids. If a parent balks at the cost, refer them to rummage sales, ebay, or a local thrift store.

Same weather here, and it's too cold to be outside with short sleeves for play. The windows were open in the living room overnight, and one of the kids grabbed a blanket and didn't come out from under it for 1/2 hour (68 in here because of windows being open).

No it's not a typo. With the wind, no sun, and it rained all night it's to chilly to be outside w/o a light jacket. Keep in mind these kids have shorts & tshirts on. Even a long sleeve shirt woudl've been ok.

why on earth can't they even leave a sweatshirt with you??? That probably would have done the job for today. And lovethis how the parents all had jackets on when they are probably going to be in a temperature controlled office all day yet they didn't think to do the same for their child who will be playing outside!!!

Heaven only knows why they won't leave a sweatshirt here. Given how much other cr*p they leave here a sweatshirt wouldn't add much :-)

Whatever, that's why they all have cubbies. Maybe next time parents will think twice about the coat/sweatshirt thing. I made it their problem, not mine. They chose to not bring appropriate clothing, I chose to not accept their children into care until they had the appropriate clothing.

Can you require that they leave a light jacket/sweatshirt in their cubbies at your home? I do this right before the weather changes and then require a coat right before the weather changes again.

ECS: I will probably start doing this eventually. I haven't picked that particular battle yet.

Melilley: If I remember correctly I'm west of you.....yeah, it's chilly today. I'm running around in jeans and a long sleeved shirt and it's comfortable. No way would I want to be in a tshirt & shorts today.
