Those are the rates for July 2012-July 2013.....

I am not sure if the rates increased for this July 2013 but I know that is the rate I have already been being reimbursed for the last year....

I tried to find the July 2013-2014 rates but haven't had any luck yet.

Wow. I'm tier two. I may end up with what, $5 extra dollars?

I just went to the food program course last week and the new CACFP lady was giving run downs of cheaper protein options (like beans, eggs) to help balance the food costs for providers, she warned us that the increases will be 'chump change'.

Hmm, that is odd. I could be mistaken...

Here is where I got the info http://www.tomcopelandblog.com/2012/...announced.html

I tried to look at my MMK but couldn't find any new announcements about it.

I am just grateful I get Tier 1 rates and not Tier 2.

Me too! Yeah..........it's up to $2.12 per day now. Less than Tier 1 gets for lunch alone.

How weird. I wonder if each food program is different?:confused:

So that's what, .03 increase per child, per day (assuming breakfast, snack, lunch)? I think we can safely say we're not the ones breaking the federal budget

I'm in NY and was up until a few months ago tier 2. I was debating at that point to even continue on the food program, even though I love my reps and its not exactly a hardship to fill out the menus. I remember I was considering raising rates to make up for the cost of food...Then I got a call saying because my town is economically depressed I am now tier 1. My checks are now at least double...I have no idea what I will do if/when our area stabilizes and they tell me I'm back to tier 2. It's such a huge difference.

This is what is listed on the USDA's website for the 2012-2013 rates. The new rates haven't been posted there yet but I'm guessing the rates pp listed are the new ones.

                    Day care homes
                    Breakfast Lunch/Supper Snack
Tier I Tier II Tier I Tier II Tier I Tier II
                    CONTIGUOUS STATES .................. 1.27 0.46 2.38 1.44 0.71 0.19
                    ALASKA ...................................... 2.03 0.72 3.86 2.33 1.15 0.31
                    HAWAII ...................................... 1.48 0.53 2.79 1.68 0.83 0.23

For Tier 1 it is a whopping $0.03 increase per child per day if that is accurate and they are there for 2 meals and a snack.

Ok, just to appease my own mind, I called my food program.

This is what I found out:

UtahMomma was correct, the reimbursement rates are:

                        Tier 1-Breakfast-$1.28, Lunch & Dinner- $2.40, Snack $0.71

                        The 2012-2013 rates were:

                        Tier 1-Breakfast-$1.27, Lunch & Dinner- $2.38, Snack $0.71

So Breakfast is now a penny more, lunch/supper is .02 cents more and snack did not change.

My agency said the new rates were just announced today (again, making UtahMomma correct)

So while NOT a huge increase, an increase none the less.

Looking at those numbers, because I do lunch and supper and snack I could make ALMOST as much per day to FEED them than the state pays me to keep them per day.... (Big sigh) ... $5.51 per day per kid to feed them reimbursed... But the state only pays $8 a day to keep them for 10 hours a day...

It's odd, because I'm about 15 minutes away from a very wealthy area (if you like horses) and if we still lived in our old house (in that city) there would be no way I'd qualify.
