Doesn't bother me when a parent is home sick and brings child to me. If they're too sick to do their job at the office/factory/whatever, they need the rest so that they can care for their child when my daycare closes. Doesn't bother me a bit, I support it. When a parent takes a vacation day to bum around, it does burn me up-or when they have a federal holiday off and get upset because I'm not open for them. Not only do I get my "chores" done with my child in tow, I get them done with other peoples' kids, too. I don't believe that you can't buy groceries with your child (with a kid under 12 months, I know it's easier to go alone, but after that...).

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind them coming at all. All of my dcks are here 5 days a week, so I'm used to that. I just couldn't understand what was the reason for the phone call if he was coming:confused:- Flag

I don't really mind either, EXCEPT that the mom specifically phoned that she was keeping the kid home, she was sick herself, and then mentioned the kid was "cranky" so she was going to send him. When kids are "cranky" in my care, it generally tends to come down to feeling under the weather or a bad night of sleep because they were up all night puking, teething, fever, etc. So if the mom was sick and sends a "cranky" kid, I would be making sure that he had no other symptoms, or masked symptoms that mom felt she could not deal with in her state so I get the happy pleasure with many other kids around to infect. I am happy to let parents get much-needed rest, but I would NOT be cool with being a nursemaid or exposing my daycare to whatever they have either just so she can get that rest. That story set off major alarm bells in my head. Glad he wasn't cranky for you, OP. Hope you have a healthy weekend!- Flag
