    Question Regarding Child Turnover

Okay as a new provider I'm a little concerned about how my week is going and it's only TUESDAY!
I am terminating a two daycare boys on the 9th and 16th of August. One because of behavior and the other because the voucher's reimbursement rate is EXTREMELY low for the nations capital. BUT yesterday one parent informed me she is moving to FL and the other told me she is traveling home to Russia for a month.
Is this common? Do the children tend to leave all at once? Are turnovers a regular routine? I'm asking because I never moved any of my 4 children until they were ready to attend school or in the last one's case, the daycare only accepted children 6wks to 2 years. Just asking. Feeling nervous!

I've had some big turnovers! I'm licensed for 12 and tend to keep 8-10 in care.

In the past 7 months I've termed/had move/leave because I wouldn't or couldn't accommodate them 10 children! I only have 2 here that have been here more than a year. The rest have been here for 5 months or less. I have had 6 new children sign up while I'm largely pregnant (5 ft and 1 pt). I live in a small community.

THANK YO[U]! truly felt like something was wrong. I picked the wrong career move, etc. All I know is I DO NOT want to return to corporate america full-time. I will attempt to remove my insecurities. Thank you again.

For me this business has always been hit or miss! Luckily more hit . Yes I do have times when I lose a group at once for diff reasons- like this June!- sometimes my phone doesn't ring sometimes it is off the hook! It just depends... You def have to weather some storms in my experice - but over all it works out! Don't fret your not alone!! It will pick back up

It comes and goes for me,

I've been consistently 3/4 full for over a year now but I went through a period of low enrollment right before that, lost a few to job loss, termed some amd another aged out. It seemed like it took forever to replace them too but then one week I suddenly got flooded with calls and filled back up. I'm down one kid now and haven't had much interest but I'm kinda liking the one less kid dynamic so I'm not trying that hard to fill it ::

I wouldn't be concerned about something being wrong with you. A have a friend with an excellent reputation (well-deserved) who lost 6 in the last 2 months.

It'll pick up. This business is up and down. No different than having any business. Just keep your program interesting and keep the faith. I was up and down too about being in the wrong career field, but like you, I can't do corporate. But it also helps that I do have a DH that is gainfully employed. So when I'm low in child care numbers, my DH picks up the slack until my numbers are up again. He is very supportive and he don't want me to get out of this business because he believes it's needed. Child care would also be in demand, so you'll be fine.
