    Wisconsin Daycare Center

Hi! Does any one know where I can get the Wisconsin commercial building codes for use as a child care? I am concerned about a building being to close to a local bar in the small village I live in. I don't want to pursue the building unless I am sure that there is no code about it being to many feet from a bar. Thanks!

Not sure if you are asking the same thing as previously but I think Heidi (a provider in Wisconsin) said that there are no laws/rules that she is aware of about the amount of required space between child care centers and bars.

I think she said there are even a few centers in her area that are right next to bars. Here is the thread:

Daycare Center and Family Home owners, Directors, Operators and Assistants should post and ask questions here.

Yes, I remember her thread. But, being that it wasn't a definite answer and that I am about to get a closing date on the building; I would like to know for sure before I put money into something that can't happen. Just seeing if anyone else out here is aware of anything before I purchase and remodel.

        Totally understood.

Were you able to contact your state licensing department and ask them?

I know a lot of those agencies aren't always good about getting back to you so I can see why it may be a smarter move to ask others...

In my state, the county licensors don't oversee center based child care. They only do family child care while the actually state agency handles all center based facilities.

I wouldn't think that there is any restrictions but it sure would **** to get all your financing and other things completed only to find out there are.

Hoping someone on the forum can help you find the answer....

Yes, but she said that there was no law that she was "aware of". Waiting to hear back from our village building inspector about any village ordinances pertaining to educational facilities.

riley, the regs are posted on DCF"s website. That is ALL the rules. If it's not there, it's not a rule.

"Not that I'm aware of".... Way to cover her butt.

What county are you in? Did you talk to that area's licenser directly, or just the licenser on call?
