According to one researcher – Dr. Tomas DePaulis – many parents who keep their kids as far away from coffee as possible could be wrong. He says coffee isn’t that bad for kids and, like in adults, it can help improve concentration and may help children do a little better on tests for this reason.
In an interesting finding from Brazil, kids who drink coffee with milk are less likely to have depression than other children.
Considering the fact that a lot of parents allow their children to have bottomless sippy cups of juice (some parents allow soda) and other unhealthy foods, coffee would be the least of my concerns.
If, however the child was a great big ball of energy due to the caffeine, I would probably consider giving the parent an earful at pick up time.
Also, do you know if it actually IS or ISN'T caffeinated? A lot of people drink caffeine free drinks, including coffee just to avoid the side effects themselves.
I'm assuming it was caffeinated since dcm warned me about it.
Ugh, that is ****y.....
Is he normally a pretty well behaved kid or are you anticipating a tough day with him now?
Gotta love when parents do weird stuff like that and then drop their kid off to you and think nothing of it.... well atleast mom was considerate enough to let you know about it.

I've heard some of this also.
Did he have an entire cup of coffee or just a few drinks. Coffee in the morning really wouldn't have me up in arms. I drink coffee at nap time to calm my nerves.
ETA- I wouldn't be up in arms about it UNLESS he showed different behaviors because of it. Then I'd tell dad to lay off the coffee before dc.
Actually he has been fine. We were outside for 3 hours this morning and he was running around, not much different than usual.
I wouldn't have made stink about it unless he was crazy today. I find it odd though that they would give him coffee with caffeine because they avoid giving him sugar at all costs.
I, personally, would PREFER for some of the parents to give their children coffee for breakfast in the morning over the donut and juice they feed them on the way over (despite us providing a HEALTHY breakfast without sugar here...). :: When they tell me that they had apple juice and a donut I want to run away instantly.
