    Dinosaurs

Ok, I know some of you have had some excellent successes with dinosaur theme curriculum.

I got a bunch of books from the library, have a couple crafts in mind (track stamping with our plastic dinosaurs, D is for Dinosaur craft, thinking of a dinosaur headband/mask, but not sure how to do it. ...) I've found a COUPLE nursery rhymes changed into dino theme, but they seem to be reeeeaaallly stretching it, haha.

What is your favorite thing (or things) you have done for dino stuff? Thanks!!

this is one of my favorite themes...

I love to sing.....If your happy and you know it...instead

if youre a dinosaur shake/swing your tail (shake your rear)
    say 2 times

if youre a dinosaur, give a great big dino (replace with small or tiny, so the kids don't yell so loud all of the time) roar!

if youre a dinosaur shake your tail....

then replace tail with claws and have then make a snarl sound while forming their hands into claws
Then replace claws with if your a dinosaur stop your feet
this song can get pretty loud, so I always end it with...

if you're a dinosaur take a nap..... and then end it with if you're a dinosaur make a tiny dino snore, if you're a dinosaur take a nap.......

this will lead you straight into the kids already being seated so then you can now read a book or do a felt board story........

oh and of course, the fav of all times....

You have to make an exploding volcano..... this was the highlight of the whole theme...........the kids help me make it and then we let it dry for 3 days. Later we used diet coke and mentos candy to explode it.........sooooo much fun

I did my first ever dinosaur unit in May.

They loved a sensory bin full of small dinosaurs and black stones (from the dollar store).

We also did dinosaur foot prints in paint & stamped them on paper.

We made giant dinosaur footprints out of construction paper and made a trail across the wall. Which is still there

Also, we pressed dinosaurs into play-doh to look like fossils.

My wal-mart & target had dinosaurs for 1.00. So I bought a class set, and used them many many times.
