    this IS interesting

so I had an aquaintance ask for daycare services and also, need a discount. I dont like working with people I already know and I dont give discounts. However, I made the exception to give it a go (why?? I will claim temporary insanity) and also offered a significant discount. Mom of course wanted more hours for less pay so I did stand firm after a certain point and tell her no. She found someone which was fine by me. The "someone else" is a former employee of mine.....that I had to fire. This was a person that worked AS A TEACHER(!!!) for the public school system and still could not show up here on time, could not keep control of the kids, could not finish simple tasks or follow basic instructions. I have no idea how she even finished a college degree. She was in WAY over her head not just with the kids but also just with the day to day tasks of being here on time. I talked to her about it (before firing her) and she assured me she would prove that she could do this job and really won me over with her earnestness....until she turned up late the very next shift. She also believed that providers should not let kids cry so whatever kids were the youngest and crying the most, that is who she took care of.....the older kids were not even getting fed in her pursuit of keeping the young ones from crying. She wasnt changing diapers regularly if the baby would cry when being set down. It was ridiculous. So that was two years ago. Then the friend of mine somehow gets in contact with this former employee, who is now opening her own daycare, ha ha. Its been 6 weeks and the former employee told my friend she could not handle the friend's kids and gave immediate notice. And now my spots are filled anyway I saw the whole thing coming and was honestly surprised this former employee made it 6 weeks. She was also giving a 50% discount to get kids in the door. no one wants to work for peanuts for long!
