Why O Why?!?!?

I have a 2 year old dcb who's mom is off during the summer asking me if I know anyone responsible and keep kids on the weekend:confused::confused

Ummmmm first off dcb comes every single day while dcm spends her day doing whatever she pleases and she has the nerve to want someone to keep him 7 days a week:confused: Why o why would a person want to do that to their child??? Her reasons for weekend care is not every weekend, only when I have something to do. I know that we as parents want to have some "me" time, but this is too much!

Sometimes I wonder why certain parents become parents. Kids 'get that' when they're constantly shuffled off to other people for no good reason. What can that do to their self-esteem?

It is sad....we live in a very self centered, electronic driven society that seeks immediate gratification and hates to put too much effort into the things we should because we are all too distracted with the BS that surrounds the illusion of this things we call our life.

I dont think the problem is people having children...the problem is the culture and what we have let our society become....i am having some philosophical moments here....but WAKE UP PEOPLE....so much crap is going on, and the majority of us could care less...it is sad....

She doesn't like being around her child. It's really that simple. She doesn't like having him around her except when he is sleeping.

I think it's so sad that a parent does not want to spend any time with their child and I told her that.

Self centered is exactly what I get from her! She is upset because the gma said she was gone pick him up on Friday after he git home from daycare and keep him the entire weekend. well the gma didn't pick him up, so she had to stay in the house the entire weekend :confused:

It's a common theme today. I'm not sure if it was like this 10 years ago or 20 years ago as I was too young to notice back then, but it saddens me.

I worked as a in-home healthcare attendant for a child that should not have qualified for one. I worked with her from 7:00AM (the time she woke up)-7:00PM and someone came in after me for a little bit until she went to bed. There was also someone that came in to do it on weekends. The Mom would get depressed and sigh if I had to leave even 30 minutes before the next shift person worked and said, "I'll deal." because she didn't want to be around her child alone. She liked to take pictures and upload them on Facebook (pictures that I took of her child doing activities) but didn't want to actually participate in the activities or interact much with the child. The child was like an accessory. Something that seemed like a good idea at the time, possibly...

I have several SAHM's that use my childcare for 45 hours per week. I have never had one look for care for the weekend beyond baby-sitting for dates. It would sadden me if they did but I don't think I'd say anything. You can't make someone want to invest in their child, unfortunately, unless they make that choice by themselves.

Self-centeredness does seem to be more common nowadays. I have a drop-in client that I sub for when her daycare is closed or unavailable. She works PT 3 days a week but has her boys in daycare 5 days a week and they go with bio dad every other weekend so realistically she spends a few hours a day during the week and only every other weekend with them.

Well here I am 18 days away from my due date and she calls to see if I'm available Friday the 26th (7 days away from my due date) because her provider is closed that day, bio dad would pick the boys up. I said sure but warned her that it wasn't concrete because I was so close to my due date. She understood but then she says "Oh. By the way. I'll be gone on a trip that weekend, can you do an overnight that Friday just in case their dad flakes out on picking them up?" :confused:

You want me to WHAT?!?!
What happens if I go into labor that day and you are gone? Bio dad works an hour away and won't make it to pick them up if you aren't around so what am I supposed to do with YOUR kids while I'M IN LABOR? I had to say no to even the drop-in because she wouldn't be near. She tried talking her way around it and guilt tripping me about how she and her BF planned this romantic trip together blah blah blah and I said "So why not plan the trip on a weekend that your boys are already scheduled with their dad?" ...**crickets** ... um yeah, not happening.

My 37 1/2 pregnant behind is NOT going to risk going into labor while I have DCK's that will need at least an hour to get picked up in case I go into labor MUCH LESS risk getting stuck with them overnight so that you can party hardy and rendezvous with your BF. .

I have the child of a SAHM in care 50 hours/week while she 'trains'. She is training for the same events that I myself have competed in, so nothing major either. Every other weekend she drives him 4 hours one way to her Mom's house and dcb stays there for a long weekend. SOOOO, she spends every other weekend and evenings with him. It's like having joint custody. It's CRAZY to me and she wonders why he still has separation anxiety at 2 1/2!
