    Changing Hours For School Year

I provide mostly school-year care only (with the exception of my part-time year-round family). For this school year two of my clients have pick-up times at 4:00 or 4:30. My last client this past school year picked up closer to 5:00 although sometimes much closer to the 4:40 range. I want to change my closing hours to 4:30, I don't think it will pose an issue for the parnets, mom gets off work at 4:00 (@ 20-25 min from our house) & DCD is done at work about 3:40 pm (@ 20-25 min from our home). DCM has always picked up but DCD could part of the time - he just does drop off so I think that is why she always picks up; however I would enjoy being done at 4:30 rather than 4:45 or 4:50. Can anyone provide a simple letter? Should I state that I can be flexible or just state that the hours are changing? I am just concerned that it may pose an issue for this family although in reality it shouldn't 98% of the time. How does this sound:

    Dear DCP:

As of August 19th, 2013 my closing hours will change to 4:30 p.m. If you have any questions, please contact me.

Sounds good to me! I would not offer being flexable if you feel they will take advantage. There is a difference of once in a while(once every few weeks) and a weekly occurance of "favors" and I wouldn't open myself up for that! I state that I am open until 5:30 but, all my families pick up more around 4 or 4:15!! I can't imagine being stuck with kids here later as I don't start dinner until they leave!

My dcp's are getting the same letter starting in August, unfortunately mine is going from 6pm closing to 5:30. UGH!

Hey, any earlier pick-up is good, right? I have one family that will arrive @ 6:45 so I decided 5:00 was too late for my taste!

I would LOVE to be done at 4:30!!! I'm open until 5:30 and its one hour too long . But I have families that need that and have lost families because I'm not open until 6:00...

VERY true, and I am risking losing my sometimes until 6pm family (that really does NOT need it since a job change, but uses it 1-5x a week anyway!)

Also, there is no reason to keep your child in daycare while one parent gets off early enough to pick up!! Dad should've always been the picker upper, IMO...I used to drop off at 6:15 and DH would pick up at 3. I could not imagine my kids there any longer than that when it could be helped!
