I feel like I have been punched in the stomach.

It's been coming ever since she started 2 month ago. Dcb is 19 months and has adapted very well, but mom is something else. Chronically late with no phone calls, bounced cheque, nursing dcb for 20 minutes every pick up and the kicker..... haven't heard from her for 2 weeks and she called today to see if I could take dcb this week.

Blah, blah, blah.... my mom has gone back home (funny she didn't tell me that grandma would be watching dcb), I left you a message (NOPE, no voicemail messages and I always have my phone with me with my private number), has it been that long that I haven't phoned you?, my life is really upside down right now and my family has really been going through alot, can you have some compassion for my situation?

So, I am listening to all this silently. I almost took him back :confused:

I replied with all my blah, blah, blah and terminated.

She's upset and pissed. And, I feel like an heartless boob.

I'm sorry you're going through this. Don't feel heartless. You have to do what's best for you and your business. Remember, this parent hasn't considered your feelings even once, so you needn't spare a thought for hers.

don't feel bad, sometimes people just need a wake up call. Can you imagine if she did this too her employer do you think she would have a job???

It isn't your job to accept her breaking your policies nor is it your job to accommodate her life issues. She'll build a bridge and get over it one day. Entitled people always baffle me and have the most dramatic exits. ::

Don't feel bad! Well easier said than done, I'm like you, I would feel bad...for a while anyways. People don't realize that for most of us this is our lively hood. Going back and forth, not calling and/or showing up, bounced checks, etc.. can seriously affect us and our families. I know for me, I can only have 5 children (plus one of my own) at a time so having someone here, then not here, takes up a spot, a spot that someone full time and reliable could fill. I do prepay childcare to hopefully avoid families doing this to me so if they show up or not they pay, bounced checks, they can't stay!

It's always funny how parents think their feelings/needs/priorities should come before yours.

She wasn't respectful of your policies......she is now suffering the consequences of HER behavior.

It's hard to get kids to understand that and even harder for parents to get it.

Too often do we take on our DC families problems as our own but their problems are their problems. Have DCM go to a business and tell them "my life is really upside down right now and my family has really been going through alot, can you have some compassion for my situation?" and let's see what they say ::.

Chances are that she would have continued to take advantage of you. SHE could have saved herself a lot of hassle had SHE simply picked up the phone and had a conversation with you about having her mom watch her child for her but SHE didn't have the common courtesy to do so. Nowhere in your thread did I read that YOU did something to HER that make any of this whole thing your fault KWIM?

It's not your problem this woman couldn't get her act together. I will not tolerate disrespect from my daycare parents. None of us should. Acting this way was disrespectful of her. Let her be angry. You did the right thing.
