Ok. Agent called. $125 annual increase ANTICIPATED, but they won't know until Monday.
    It's $592 for a half a mill now.

That's crazy. In my county only centers have to have insurance homes do not. I've been looking into it to go hand in hand with my home owners ins, but of course a lot of home owner ins do not cover it.
I just can't believe YOU have to insure the state the state should be the ones covering their own behinds.
Good luck to you, hopefully it doesn't go up too much for you!!

Listing them on the policy should not increase the premium at all. All it should do is allow them to get cancellation notices and make sure your policy stays active and if it becomes inactive, they can tell you you've broken contract and then drop you from the program. If the premium went up, I'd double-check that they didn't name the state as a trustee as part of your household, but rather just listed them as an additional interested party/insured. I've seen policies where we'll list a landlord, for example, as someone on the insured's policy in error creating an increase that should not be. All these people want is their name to be listed on the dec page and that's all they should be listed as. They are NOT a part of the household and DO NOT have an insurable interest in your daycare even if they require you to carry liability insurance unless some NEW crazy rule is in effect in your state which I have never heard of, even in crazy states like NY or NJ,

Additionally, insurance only protects you up to the limits of the policy. It does not prevent a parent from suing you or the state if their allegations/injuries/etc go above/beyond those limits. I can't see how the state would think that they can prevent ANYONE from suing them, unless you signed an arbitration agreement, which is a completely separate issue anyway

I'm in Florida also mine only went up $26.00 per year who are you using for insurance? Where in Florida and which coalition are you working with. I'm in ft myers and work with the Early Learning Coalition of South West Florida. We just have to list them as add so that they know we have insurance we do not have to carry their insurance. We were told this is the only way they can be sure that the children are covered in case of an accident.

IMO there is going to be a lot of subsidy kids without daycare.
Its just not going to work. Either providers are going to drop the subsidy kids or they will raise their rates so that subsidy parents have larger co pays, who will in turn be unable to pay and drop out of programs.
Either way, there will be a lot of parents unable to work. Therefore other welfare programs will have to make up for it! The unemployment rate will go up.
LOL they don't know it yet, but they shot themselves in the foot.

                  What a nightmare!
