    Accreditation

Can a home child care be NAECY accredited? I know it can be through NAFCC. How about head start? Any body in Illinois has a collaboration head start in their home business?

You have to be a center for NAEYC accreditation.

I recently went to a seminar on NAFCC accreditation, and am expecting my self-study kit any day now.

How was the seminar? I am familiar with NAEYC accreditation for centers, but haven't had experience with NAFCC. I have been considering trying for accreditation myself though I don't know how in world I would pay for the fees. Do you mind keeping us updated on the process? I am very curious.

          Sure I would..

It's through Wisconsin Family Childcare Association. They have enough scholarship money to give to several interested providers to pay for the whole accreditation!

Check with your R&R and see if they offer anything. Otherwise, I will be happy to share what I learned.

When do you find out if you get the scholarship? On the one hand it's great that they're giving 10 scholarships, but on the other hand it's only 10.

How come it's so darn expensive anyway??

I'll contact you via Facebook, Amy. Probably not until next week, though.

Like childcare, it sounds expensive until you break down their costs and realize they're not really making anything.
