All plans for the day canelled

Well we had a fun and busy day planned for today but everything has been put on hold. I have a very miserable, grumpy, and clingy 12mo old here. Guessing he's teething but he screams whenever I put a finger in his mouth to feel. Right now he's basically been fussing, whining and freaking out the second I have to put him down or turn my back to him. So now the girls are sitting on the couch watching Tangled (something I never allow) and he's sitting in my lap chewing on a carrot. Last time the carrot worked wonders but this time he isn't interested in it. I really don't want to hold him until he is picked up but its just one of those days where if I have to listen to his cry any more I'm liable to close my head in the freezer and scream. Oh boy.. just a vent. Thanks for listening :: At least there's only 2 more hours to go!!happyface

Sorry to hear about that. Is he yours or a dck? If he's yours, would you consider using ibuprofen or teething tablets? One of my dcm's swears by the teething tablets.

Can you give him a frozen washcloth or teether?

Carrots are super-dangerous for young children. If he aspirates even the tiniest bit, it can cause horrible lung problems. I got yelled at when my now 23 yo was little by an ER nurse friend of mine.

When my kids were teething hard I found some excellent hurricane gel at a local mom and pop pharmacy. That stuff is like ten times the strength of the numbing stuff in oragel and worked FABULOUSLY.

Also, in a pinch, rubbing just a dab of liquid ibuprofen on the gum itself worked great too!!

He's my dck. His mom gave the ok last time he was teething to give him a lg cold carrot. He doesn't have many teeth so he doesn't even make a mark on it let alone get pieces off. But he's not interested in it atm any way so I'm just going to ditch it. Especially with the idea of that liability. He shows no interest in the teethers either and I don't give meds during dc hours. So I just try to comfort him, but today has been miserable, since I have other kids to care for. My dd has also been a terror today and very uncooperative. At least she's being semi still with the movie on. Counting down the minutes until the end of this day!

He won't let us in his mouth at all. He screams and thrashes. (this is all the time, not just when teething) I cant imagine how his first dentist app is going to go

My daughter didn't willingly let me either. Lets just say it happened regardless of her screaming and fit throwing

                  Got it

Hopefully, he won't be so grouchy tomorrow. I agree about the meds, same policy here. As long as I know about it, I will let parents give them Ibuprofen before they leave them here in the morning. That's what my one dcm does when little man is teething.
