    OMG its' HOT

110 here today in california!! Yesterday it was raining........

We only played outside for 20 minutes around 9am before the sun came out and attacked us.......

Other than water activities, what do you guys do to keep cool????

I thought about freezing chunks of watermelon, but never did it before....

Yesterday we had a car wash outside. Today we are having snow cones and sprinkler day.

I also filled my wading pool/kiddie pool with water and clear water beads....the kids are having a blast trying to catch them.

Although it gets really cold here, it gets hot too!

Today it is 87F and 78% humidity

Depends on the 2 year old. I have 2 of them and neither one of them put anything in their mouths but I also don't allow them to play with them (inside or out) unless totally supervised.

I wish we were allowed to have kiddie pools!! We are not allowed per licensing

It's 95 here!! We haven't spend that much time outside.....

We also don't go out if it's a coded day like code orange. Or we go out in the AM. I can't wait until we move!! I'm going to have an indoor swingset

We are not allowed to use kiddie pools here in NY
              We do:
              -water table
-freeze toys in blocks of ice and have them use (kiddie) hammers and other tools to try and get them out (I got this idea from someone on here )
-water balloon toss (I tell my kiddos that they MUST pick up all of the balloon pieces when we are done)
-use water and brushes to "paint" the house or fence

Hobby Lobby, Michael's, Walmart....pretty much anywhere that has fake flowers and/or vases. They are super cheap and REALLY REALLY cool!

I made glow in the dark ones too!

They start out tiny, you add water and within a couple hours they are big and jelly-like. Can't help but touch them!

It's a kiddie pool but I call it my water bin (or table) because the kids can't actually get in it, they are only allowed to lean over the edge and play in it. The circular shape makes it easy for kids to be side by side but not in each others way...kwim?

We aren't allowed to use kiddie pools here as swimming pools unless we have parents sign off on it but I just don't bother because I use the pool as a water "table".

Kiddie pool water can get gross pretty fast if they were all actually in it.

Its been raining here since Sunday, but very warm and muggy. Suppose to get close up to the 100's but we will see.

My son is in Chico CA this week (not sure were that is) but I'm hoping he had nice weather there.

We cannot have pools either. I think I'm going to buy a water mister or something.

man I dont' know what I would do if we could not have kiddie pools.... I just have to make sure that I dump them as soon as we are done with them. We can't have any free standing water that the kids could get access to.

I want some of those water beads.....I will have to wait though, because I have a 2 year old that puts everything in his mouth....

You actually need a black light (really inexpensive at craft stores....I think I bought a 24 inch one for less than $15)

Here is a thread where Mema and I talked about them. I linked a blog that has the directions to get them to glow (and all sorts of other fun stuff to do with them).

Daycare Center and Family Home owners, Directors, Operators and Assistants should post and ask questions here.

I got all the ideas from the link in that thread.
