    Naming My Daycare

What do I need to do to name my home daycare. I am not licensed, here in Ohio you don't have to be licensed as long at you care for under 6 children.

I am struggling to get clients right now so I would like to make up a lawn sign, business cards and flyers to hand out with a business name on them to look more professional.

    Thank you!

You may want to check your state/county/city laws and codes. In our county we are required to register our trade name unless it's just our name with the word daycare or childcare at the end of it.

Yes check with your city/state. Where I live, private businesses do not register their business names...only corporations. I called about it when I first opened.

Pick something that has meaning to you.

If you are gardener, it could be "Little Sprouts"

If you're crazy about yellow duckies, it could be "Just Ducky Daycare"

If you live in a log home, it could be "Little Lodge Childcare"

I prefer childcare over daycare, but whatever sounds better wins. Also, if you are on any lists and they are alphabetical, you may want to start it with an early letter. Zander's family childcare will show up last.

I was about to mention these. I think it's better when the name has a personal meaning to you. You can even do something that has your name but a silly or fun word like "miss ----'s learnatory", "miss---- silly nilly's", or "miss ------'s learn emporium" maybe you can find something that rhymes with your name like if your name is Kimberly "Kimber's pre-kinders" or if its Debra or Debbie "Debbie's little darlings". And I would try to keep in mind the alphabetical order for advertising reasons. Some good adjectives at the beginning of the alphabet: Amazing, Awesome, Brilliant, Bright, Charming, Darling, Dazzling, Enchanting, Fantastic, Great, Lucky, Loving, ect. And you can add something to it like animals or symbols or chacteristic like Lucky Duckling, Loving Hearts, or Brilliant Braniacs. Or you can combine an adjective and your name like "Ally's Amazing Adventurers" and it doesn't even have to match the first letter of your name if its towards the back and you want to be higher on the alphabet list "Fantastic Pheobe's child care home"

Contact your state secretary of state's office about registering your business name.
